Scottish Development International (SDI) invites companies to apply to participate in a subsea trade mission to Japan. Support for travel and accommodation costs is available for eligible companies.

Background

SDI has been working closely with Japan’s trade organisations, government agencies and technology sector to develop a collaborative platform between Scotland and Japan focused on supply chain opportunities in the subsea sector.

Japan’s limited experience in subsea activity and the scale of opportunity associated with the development of methane hydrates, offshore renewables and seabed mining offers Scottish subsea companies a significant new market. A number of Japanese operators and investors also have interests in UKCS and some of those assets are approaching decommissioning. This trade mission will help Scottish companies engage with potential Japanese partners and clients as well as relevant trade organisations and government agencies with a growing interest in finding experienced supply chain partners to help develop products and services for the Japanese and global subsea and decommissioning markets.

Many Japanese companies want to develop their products and services to address growing opportunities associated with subsea applications in the oil and gas, renewables, defense and seabed mining sectors. Japan sees Scotland as a global offshore hub and companies there are looking for partners to help develop their technologies, products and services for the domestic and global markets.

Trade Mission Details

SDI Tokyo field office staff will be on hand to assist with facilitation of meetings and any translation requirements during the trade mission. The detailed programme is currently under development but should include:
