Ian Reid has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of CENSIS, the Innovation Centre for Sensor and Imaging Systems, from 6 May 2014, in succession to Dave Clark who will step down as Interim CEO in May after a handover period.

Ian has held CEO and CTO positions and brings experience of a wide variety of functional roles in R&D, engineering, operations, corporate venturing and business development. His career includes time with GEC-Marconi, Pulse Engineering, Rood Technology and QinetiQ, where he led the company’s Aerospace Division. Most recently, he completed a project as Strategic Marketing Director at Plastic Logic, which involved working closely with UK Electronic Skills Foundation (UKESF), the Electronic Systems Community (ESCO) and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills.

Bob Downes, Chair of CENSIS said: “After a rigorous selection process, Ian emerged as the outstanding candidate to be the CEO for the Innovation Centre. His skills and knowledge will be of immense value to the organisation and I am very much looking forward to working with him as we grow and develop the activities of CENSIS”.

Bob continued: “We have also been fortunate to have Dave Clark as Interim CEO during these important startup months. I would like to thank Dave for his leadership in delivering the first part of the Operating Plan”.

Ian Reid said “I am delighted to join CENSIS as CEO. I look forward to helping industry innovators and our world-class university researchers work together on large-scale collaborations that will bridge the gap between concepts and commercial solutions. My primary focus will be to help companies of all sizes develop and deploy new sensor system technologies to meet our overall objective to solve business-defined problems and deliver long term, sustainable economic impact.”
