Technology and Innovation Centre, 99 George Street, Glasgow

8:30am-12:30pm (followed by networking lunch)

Join CENSIS and the Advanced Forming Research Centre (AFRC) for a morning of discussion and presentations around Industry 4.0 – the concept of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies and the move towards the ‘smart factory’ of the future.

Background

New digital technologies – cyber-physical systems, the Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud computing – that are helping to shape the new ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’ (known as Industry 4.0), will have a transformative effect on the efficiency and productivity of the manufacturing industry. Through the adoption of these new technologies, companies can dramatically improve competitiveness and connect into new supply chains.

So far, coverage of Industry 4.0 has tended to focus on specific technologies which can make it difficult for companies – particularly SMEs – to recognise the many business benefits Industry 4.0 can bring.

About the event

This workshop looks beyond the hype surrounding Industry 4.0 to provide clear information on the benefits of digital manufacturing technologies for manufacturing companies. We’ll also provide information on the support available in Scotland to industry.

The event is being organised by CENSIS and AFRC on behalf of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult and the I4MS (ICT Innovation for Manufacturing SMEs) initiative, with support from Technology Scotland.

Who should attend

This event is open to anyone interested in exploring opportunities in advanced manufacturing. On the day you’ll have a chance to air your views on some the challenges in your industry, and hear about the opportunities available in Scotland to support initiatives in this area.
