Working in partnership with the Scottish Local Government Digital Office, CENSIS is supporting the delivery of a fortnightly, six-part webinar series on how local authorities in Scotland can use IoT to manage and optimise their infrastructure.

Staff from CENSIS will be involved in each session, offering guidance and support around smart infrastructure applications across a range of local government services. The sessions, hosted on Microsoft Teams, will focus on key elements of IoT implementation including benefits and use cases.

Beginning on 25 August 2021 and continuing fortnightly until 3 November 2021, this online series takes place every second Wednesday at 10:00.

The webinars are aimed exclusively at people working in Scottish local authorities. Delegates do not need a technical background or be planning an IoT project to take part.

25 August 2021, 10:00

An overview and introductory session looking at the basic elements of IoT including the benefits, challenges and overcoming them and an insight into the full webinar series. Register via the Scottish Local Government Digital Office to receive your registration link.

9 Sept 2021, 10:00

The second webinar looks at East Renfrewshire Council’s project on smart road gritting. With support from CENSIS, ERC became one of the first local authorities in Scotland to use IoT to deploy a ‘smart gritting’ system, supporting existing weather data used when deploying gritters and further improving safety for road users. Join to hear more about the implementation of the road surface temperature monitoring devices. Register via and Scottish Local Government Digital Office to receive your registration link.
