IoT networks ready for experimentation

Work with us and gain access to our IoT testbed, offering a chance to try out and test ideas in a controlled environment. Tap into our skills and expert know-how for impartial advice to build, connect and manage your technology solution based on your own particular needs, e.g., power, bandwith, latency or range.

CENSIS can provide access to everything you need to meet your requirements.

Examples

LoRaWAN
A low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) protocol. CENSIS can make available gateways from various vendors which can connect to a number of network servers including IoT Scotland, LORIOT, TTN or our own locally hosted server.

MIoTy
Designed by the team at Fraunhofer, MIoTy is a new LPWAN protocol purpose-built for massive industrial and commercial IoT deployment. MIoTy’s unique telegram-splitting technology means devices will be less susceptible to interference, while the system will still offer the range, reliability, and battery life expected from LPWAN.

NB-IoT
CENSIS has access to Vodafone’s NB-IoT network where SIMs are available for in lab testing with modules from Quectel that include chipsets from HiSilicone, MediaTek and Qualcomm.

Cat M
A cellular LTE (Long-Term Evolution, a 4G wireless standard) technology specifically designed for IoT.

Satellite Communications (SatCom)
A potential step change solution for outdoor, remote and rural IoT devices. Satellite communications and other non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) can connect devices to a server, either in conjunction with, or as an alternative to, terrestrial communication networks.

Shorter range technologies
We have various modules for Bluetooth (BLE), NFC (near field communication), WiFi, Zigbee and Zwave which can be integrated with your IoT hardware and tested in the lab.
